Myofascial release is an extroadinary technique which greatly affects the connective tissue throughout the body known as fascia.

Fascia is connective tissue which is found all throughout the body. It is wrapped around every muscle fibre, muscle, tendon and organ within the body. It is basically the glue which fastens the whole body together.

The study of fascia is relatively new and research is being updated all the time. What we do know, is that fascia very flexible but is incredibly strong and sturdy. Fascia is like one long continuous fabric connecting each are of the body. This means that dysfunction in one area will likely have an impact on the rest of the body, affecting posture and creating pain. Myofascial release works to identify these imbalances and restore the body to a more optimal posture where the body can move freely and function well.

Due to the strength and resilience of fascia, general massage techniques often fail in creating any change within the fascial system. Myofascial release is a gentle but incredibly effective technique which uses slow, sustained pressure to encourage the fascia to release.

All sessions start with an assessment of posture to see what is happening within the body. From here, I can work to re-establish balance by releasing areas of tension and imbalance.
