Sports Therapy

What does sports therapy involve?

Sports Therapy uses a range of different treatment modalities including a range of massage and soft tissue techniques, acupuncture, exercise therapy and electrotherapy. The modalities used in your session will depend on your current situation, pain levels, abilities and the outcome of your initial assessment.

At the start of your appointment, we will go through a full consultation to discuss what your current issues are and the best way that we can address these together.

You will be given some exercises or stretches to carry out at home to ensure that you have the best recovery possible.

FAQ's

No! I’ll be the first to admit that the names are rather misleading. Both sports massage and sports therapy are suitable for all people regardless or whether you are an Olympian or the world’s greatest couch potato.

Sports massage is just one of the techniques used within the sports therapy. Other techniques include electrotherapy, muscle energy techniques, exercise therapy and rehabilitation, acupuncture and myofascial release.

Sports massage is ideal for people who need some assistance in removing tension and stress from within the body to keep it working at it’s best.

If you have any specific aches, pains or injuries, I would suggest booking in for a sports therapy session/course of sessions. After this, once the issue is resolved, you can optionally switch to regular sports massage maintenance treatments.

This depends entirely upon your current circumstances. Its not uncommon to feel a whole lot better after one session, but realistically, its likely to take more than one 60 minute session to undo the past 10 years of bad posture – or that shoulder issue that’s been bothering you since 1998!

Sessions can be booked individually or you can purchase packages to help save money or spread the cost.

For sports massage and sports therapy, its advisable to wear shorts and a vest (for ladies) to your appointment. This means you can move around comfortably I can get a good look at your posture while standing or moving. We have facilities for you to change at the clinic.

No, not at all.

Each sessions is tailored to the clients own needs. It is not necessary to use all treatment modalities to achieve great results.
